The Dientes Fuertes, Vida Sana program integrates nine video clips across the six training sessions. The videos follow Marisol, a promotora de salud, as she conducts children’s tooth decay prevention outreach. The videos model outreach activities and tooth decay prevention techniques and engage promotores in discussions about previous experiences and situations they may encounter in their own work.

Session 5

This video shows scenarios for promotoras de salud to discuss. First, a child does not brush his teeth adequately by himself. Second, a toddler is thirsty between meals and asks her mom for a beverage. Third, two young parents tell a promotora de salud that their son needs a filling and they may wait to return to the dentist due to the high cost of treatment.

Session 6

Marisol, a promotora de salud, conducts a follow up visit with a family. She learns that the son returned to the dentist for treatment, and the daughter now naps without her bottle and will attend her first dental appointment soon. The family learned a lot about children’s tooth decay prevention from Marisol and keeps their smiles healthy by brushing and flossing together.
